Hull KR forward Ben Galea is expected to be fit for the start of the new Super League season next month after returning to training after surgery.

The Australian back row forward, 30, will see a specialist this week and is expected to be given the all-clear.

Coach Justin Morgan told BBC Radio Humberside: "He's been doing most of the training and seems fine.

"He should be available for one if not both of the pre-season friendlies and fit and get the all-clear to play."

Galea was signed a year ago from NRL side Wests Tigers and was Rovers' player of the season after playing several positions during a campaign that saw the club finish just outside the play-off places.

"Bennie was outstanding last season and he's done all the training but we've kept him away from the full contact work until the specialist gives him the nod," added Morgan.
