Whiting is a former Super League young player of the year winner |
Hull FC's Richard Whiting says he wants to shed his utility tag and become a first pick in the side in one position. Whiting, 26, has played in a number of positions for the Black and Whites, including centre and full-back. He told BBC Radio Humberside: "I just want to get into a settled role and get rid of this bit of a utility tag. "I want to set my stall on one spot, nail my name to the mast on that one spot and once I've got that spot not let anyone take it away from me." Whiting arrived at the KC Stadium from Featherstone Rovers in 2003 and was a try-scorer in the side that won the Challenge Cup final against Leeds Rhinos in 2005. Hull FC kick off the season on 13 February with a local derby game against city rivals Hull KR at the Millennium Stadium as part of the Magic Weekend.
