King spent more than 10 years at Hull FC

Hull FC prop forward Paul King has left the Super League club by mutual consent despite having a contract to continue for the 2010 season.

The 30-year-old, who was Hull's longest-serving player after joining as a teenager, has just completed a successful testimonial season.

"I've loved every minute of my time at Hull FC," he told the club website.

King was part of the Black and Whites team which shocked hot favourites Leeds to win the Challenge Cup in 2005.

He added: "I have some wonderful memories down the years with Hull FC and I wish everybody at the club good luck for next season."

King has found himself out in the cold after a number of close-season signings including Sean Long, Mark O'Meley and Craig Fitzgibbon.

The player's lung-busting style earned international recognition with Great Britain while he was at Hull FC.

Wakefield boss John Kear, who was in charge of Hull when they won the cup, has expressed an interest in signing the player.
