Horne made his Hull debut at the age of 17 |
Huddersfield Giants have signed former Hull FC star Graeme Horne on a one-year-deal. The 24-year-old utility player was released by his hometown club at the end of last season. Horne said: "This could be just the challenge I need at this stage of my career and I'm excited about it. "I did have other offers, but as soon as I knew Huddersfield were interested in me and I talked to the people there I knew this was the only place to be." Horne added: "It was great to know a club like Huddersfield were keen to take me on. They had a fantastic year last year under Nathan Brown, and I'm really excited about learning off him. "He seemed to be able to find an improvement in all the players at the club and I hope he can do the same for me," Horne continued. "It doesn't take you very long to appreciate why this club is the Super League club of the year and with the signings they've made I'm sure next season can also be fantastic." Horne will join fellow new signings David Fa'alogo, Lee Gilmour, Brad Drew, Scott Grix and Kyle Wood at the Giants next season. Giants' head coach Nathan Brown explained: "There's no question he's a player of some talent and will enhance the quality of our squad. "At this stage of the year, it's not easy to pick up a player of this quality, so we believe we've done exceptionally well to get him." Brown added: "For a player of his age to have played so many Super League games proves he must have something going for him. "We're now hoping this change of environment will be the catalyst to help Graeme reach his full potential."
