Byrne was part of the Roosters 2003 Grand Final side |
Hull FC have cancelled the remainder of Australian utility back Todd Byrne's contract after he suffered a season-ending knee injury. The 30-year-old, who was out of contract at the end of the season, underwent knee reconstruction surgery. Byrne was injured in the second game of the season against Celtic Crusaders and has reached a settlement with Hull. He joined the club from New Zealand Warriors last year and scored six tries in 22 appearances. The former Sydney Roosters player said: "I have loved every minute of my time at Hull FC and I leave with fond memories of the club, the city and the people." Byrne's exit means the club now have a free space in their quota for overseas players and could allow them to make a new signing.
