Gilmour made 146 appearances during six-years at St Helens |
Huddersfield Giants' new signing Lee Gilmour has set his sights on helping the club win trophies following his summer switch from St Helens. The 31-year-old second rower played for the Saints for six years and scored seven tries last season. "Huddersfield are a team on the up but there's still no silverware," Gilmour told BBC Radio Leeds. "My aim and that of the team has got to be to bring some silverware back to Huddersfield Giants." Gilmour says he wants to prove himself at Huddersfield and hopefully extend the current deal. "I've signed a two-year contract so I would like to extend that by a year definitely," said the former Great Britain international. Gilmour is one of six new signings joining Graham Horne, David Fa'alogo, Brad Drew, Scott Grix and Kyle Wood at the Galpharm Stadium for Super League XV. "We've got a really strong squad so if there's any injuries we've got real strength in depth," added Gilmour. "It's a great team so if there's any players struggling with form there'll be another player who can come in and do a good job for the team." The Giants kick-off the new Super League season with a match at home to one of Gilmour's former club's, the Bradford Bulls, on Friday, 5 February.
