Kirmond scored the winning try in the quarter-final win over Castleford |
Huddersfield Giants second row Danny Kirmond will miss Saturday's Challenge Cup final against Warrington after being ruled out with a knee injury. The 23-year-old suffered medial knee ligament damage during Friday night's 12-10 Super League defeat at St Helens. "We're all really disappointed for Danny," coach Nathan Brown said. "He's had a good year and would definitely have been part of our Wembley plans." Kirmond is out for at least six weeks and may miss the rest of the season. Further scans on Monday will determine the extent of the damage. It is extra agony for Kirmond after he played a key role in getting the Giants to Wembley, scoring the match-winning try in their quarter-final against Castleford. "That try comes on the back of all the other good things he has done for us so consistently," Brown added. "Danny's a really good kid who always trains hard and gives 100% in the games he plays. "As you can imagine, what's happened to him has hit him really hard and we all feel for him."
