Huddersfield Giants will be without David Faiumu for the start of the Super League season as he has flown to New Zealand following a family bereavement. The hooker caught a flight at the weekend and will miss Saturday's match against Catalan Dragons in Perpignan. "David Faiumu has had a death in the family, so he's unavailable for selection," said coach Nathan Brown. Faiumu, 25, is expected back in time for the Giants' home game against St Helens on 22 February. Faiumu joined Huddersfield towards the end of the 2008 season. He played 76 times for the North Queensland Cowboys in the NRL, starting 61 of those games from the interchange bench and scored eight tries in the process. Meanwhile, Brown will give a competitive debut to Scott Moore - with another 21-year-old Shaun Lunt set to make his Super League debut from the bench. Moore is on a season-long loan with Huddersfield from St Helens after spending last year with Castleford, while Lunt was a close-season signing from Workington.
