Harris played rugby union for Cardiff |
Former Wales international Iestyn Harris believes an age limit should be set on southern hemisphere players coming into Super League. Harris' idea would mean overseas stars over 30 would not be allowed to play in the European game. "What we tend to find is that a lot of these players that come over are at the end of their career," Harris told the BBC's Super League show. "What we want to see is younger guys who are at their peak." The current Featherstone Rovers player-coach added: "For example it's great to have someone like Steve Menzies playing for Bradford. He is a fantastic player and was great for Manly for years. "But he has come over to our game at the age of 35, we'd love a Steve Menzies playing in Super League at 24 or 25. "I don't know if it is something that could be put in place, but I think some kind of age cap should be put in place. "There are too many foreigners coming over here and playing at the wrong side of 30. "We want the New Zealand and Australian players here at their pomp in the early and mid 20s." Rugby League fans can watch the Super League Show again on the BBC's iPlayer or via the Red Button.
