Castleford Tigers have been charged by the Rugby Football League for crowd trouble during their loss to Catalans Dragons in June. It is alleged that plastic bottles were thrown onto the Jungle pitch and that match officials were harassed by fans. They have been charged with conduct prejudicial to the interest of the game, misconduct of spectators and breaching the RFL's respect policy. An operational rules tribunal will consider the case. In response to the charge, a Castleford statement read: "The decision to charge the club is one that we heard of with some disappointment. "Since the Catalans game we have hosted two high profile games against Hull FC and Hull KR, both of which had attendances of well over 8,000 and both passed off without any incident. "Indeed we were praised by the police for our handling of the Hull FC game. This is the norm here at the Jungle, a record we are proud of." Leeds based community club Queens have also been charged with the same offence following incidents in their Challenge Cup fixture at Doncaster in March.
