Davies has yet to make a first team appearance for the Tigers

Castleford Tigers have given a new three-year deal to forward John Davies.

The 18-year-old back-rower joined the Tigers from local club Lock Lane and has won Yorkshire academy honours.

Head of youth development Steve Gill said: "John has been in top form this year playing with both the academy and the reserves.

"Next year he will be part of the Terry Matterson's [head coach] full time squad and I expect him to be pushing for a first grade spot."
