Chase scored two tries as Castleford brushed Hull aside

A superb display from Rangi Chase saw Castleford move into a five-way tie for fifth in the battle for the play-offs.

Chase intercepted in the fourth minute to open the scoring and Craig Huby, Michael Wainwright and Ryan Hudson also crossed the line in the first half.

Kiwi Chase scored again soon after the break after a neat wrong-footing dummy.

Hull were given hope with 20 minutes left when Kirk Yeaman went over but Michael Shenton and Wainwright sealed victory for Terry Matterson's Tigers.

Castleford coach Terry Matterson:

"The way we approached the game was really enthusiastic. Our defence got us on the front foot, and then we dominated possession.

"You've got to be pleased with a win like that. We've got a couple back to back now, and it puts us in the mix with those sides on 20.

"Our record on the road is outstanding. But there have been some frustrations at home, so that was great.

"We're going into the run-in now and we are positioned OK. There is still a lot of work to be done, but we are on the right track."

Hull coach Richard Agar:

"I think in isolation we have got some blokes that are trying their hardest and busting a gut to try to get us a result and pick the team up. But it is a team game, and unless we get 17 blokes pulling in the right direction it becomes hard work.

"After the start to the game it leaves me questioning with some of these blokes where rugby sits on their list of priorities.

"They had us in disarray at times with their kicking game, and Richard Horne was doing so much covering around the back that it was bedlam for the poor fella."
