Hooker Newton to undergo surgery

Terry Newton looks to have played his last game for Bradford Bulls after being told he needs surgery to repair a fractured cheekbone.

The 30-year-old hooker sustained the injury in the Bulls' win at Harlequins and will undergo surgery on Thursday.

Newton, who will play for Wakefield next season, will be ruled out for up to six weeks.

"If he's played his last game it would be unfortunate for him and a shame for us," said Bulls coach Steve McNamara.

Newton had wanted a two-year deal with Bradford, but the club were only prepared to offer him a one-year contract extension.
