Tronc's Cowboys lost to West Igers in the 2005 NRL Grand Final |
Wakefield Trinity Wildcats have agreed a two-year deal with Australian prop Shane Tronc. The 27-year-old will arrive at Belle Vue from North Queensland Cowboys in time for the start of next season. "I have always harboured a desire to play in Super League and I'm looking forward to the challenge," said Tronc. "I feel I can offer Wakefield a strong work ethic, the tough yards, a committed defence and 100% effort each week," he added. "I have been enjoying my footy in Australia this year and I'm very happy with my form. "Wakefield are a club on the improve and are going places on the back of good coaching, and I was very impressed with the club's professionalism during negotiations with my agent." Tronc has made 119 NRL appearances in his six seasons with the Cowboys but has been squeezed out by salary cap restraints. | Wakefield are a club on the improve and are going places |
Wildcats coach John Kear added. "When the opportunity to acquire a player of Shane Tronc's undoubted ability came up the club jumped at the chance. "We see the signing as a continuation of our great and sustained improvement. "Shane will play a vital part in the squad next season and dovetails nicely with the signings of Terry Newton and Glenn Morrison in the engine room of the pack."
