Noble's Bradford contract expires at the end of next season |
Brian Noble says he will make a decision on whether to become the new Wigan coach "in the next 24 hours". Noble has discussed the position with Wigan chairman Maurice Lindsay and will now mull over his options.
"The reality is there has been no decision made as yet and that is my decision to make over the next 24 hours," said the Bradford coach.
Lindsay added that he was "very hopeful" and that they had held "good talks" over the weekend.
"We've got our fingers crossed," Lindsay told the BBC's Today programme.
"He is the right man for the job and it's a matter for him to discuss with his family now, consider and hopefully make a decision on Tuesday."
Wigan are currently bottom of the Super League table having won only won match in nine. They play Harlequins on Monday while Bradford take on Huddersfield on Tuesday.
Noble's contract at Bradford expires after next season, with his assistant Steve McNamara already lined up as his replacement.
Noble, also Great Britain coach, has taken the Bulls to the last five Grand Finals and also the World Club Challenge, which they won in February.
If appointed, he will be Wigan's 10th coach in as many years.
Friday's 48-10 loss to St Helens was the Warriors' sixth in a row, their worst run in 24 years. "If Brian comes he will be the complete boss," Lindsay added. "He will sign the players, he will train the players and he will pick the side.
"We are very hopeful that things can be agreed. He has a fine record as a player and coach with Bradford and I have my fingers crossed."
