Harrison to stay at Salford
Salford coach Karl Harrison
Harrison was devastated by the Reds' relegation
Former Great Britain international Karl Harrison is staying on as Salford Reds coach despite the club's relegation from Super League.

The former Hull and Halifax prop asked for time to consider his future following his side's crucial 20-10 home defeat by Castleford on Sunday.

Harrison, who only took charge at The Willows in mid-season, was too upset to attend the post-match press conference.

After taking several days considering his options Harrison has told Salford football director Steve Simms that he intends to carry on coaching the Reds next year.

Important decisions

"Carl is staying and we are already planning for next season," Simms told the Manchester Evening News.

"Relegation was a big blow and Karl was particularly disappointed after the work he had put in.

"We have many issues to consider and lots of important decisions to make."

Salford chairman John Wilkinson has made it clear he intends to keep a full-time squad of players in a bid to bounce straight back from the Northern Ford Premiership.
