Halifax edge to safety
Beckett takes on the Leeds defence
Beckett scored a brace of tries for Halifax
Salford 26-34 Halifax

Halifax ran in six tries to secure their Super League future and push fellow strugglers Salford closer to the drop.

The Reds went ahead after only four minutes when winger Stuart Reardon crossed over and Steve Blakeley kicked the conversion.

The only consolation is that at least Wakefield lost, but our destiny is no longer in our own hands

But Halifax hit back to lead 22-10 at the break thanks to tries from Ryan Clayton, Robbie Beckett, Danny Halliwell and Gavin Clinch.

The visitors moved further ahead early in the second half when David Woods touched down and Bloem's goal made it 28-10.

But Salford, who added a second try in the first half through Malcolm Alker, gave themselves hope with a try from Damian Gibson before Reardon went over for his second try.

Substitute Graham Holroyd kicked both conversions to cut the gap to 28-22, only for the Blue Sox to seal victory when winger Beckett went over for his second touchdown 15 minutes from time.

Salford had to wait until injury time for their final touchdown from Francis Maloney.
