Smith and assistant Gary Campbell are in their second season coaching the Demons |
Northampton Demons coach Joe Smith has praised his team after their Carnegie Challenge Cup preliminary round win. Demons, who beat Gloucestershire University 46-10, were only formed in 2007, and are the lowest ranked side in rugby league's major cup competition. Smith told BBC Radio Northampton: "It was a very, very good win. But the first round tie against Leeds Met will be an incredibly hard game. "They're heavy favourites, with professionals throughout their outfit." Demons brushed Gloucestershire University aside with two tries each for Ben Jones, Seb Ward and Carl Siduik.
