Southward is a Cumbrian rugby league legend

Whitehaven 2010 and Workington Town will wait until 3 January to renew their rivalry after the Boxing Day game was postponed due to a frozen pitch.

The Ike Southward Trophy, an annual contest between the two Cumbrian sides brought back to the calendar in 2006, was won by Haven last season.

Southward was a Great Britain international player, who represented Town during the 1950s.

Following his retirement as a player, Southward coached both sides.

He passed away in 2006, aged 71.
