Ross halts Oldham's Neil Roden in last month's Championship One final |
Departing York City Knights captain Jordan Ross says that winning promotion last season will probably turn out to be the highlight of his career. The second-row forward is leaving to move to Australia, but with memories still fresh of last month's triumph. "The memory is terrific," Ross told BBC Radio York. "I've got my shirt from the Grand Final and all the photos. "Obviously I'll keep them forever and realistically, probably it'll be the favourite season of my career." Having enjoyed the tumultuous scenes at Warrington's Halliwell Jones Stadium last month, when he led York to a stunning 25-4 Grand Final win over Oldham, Ross had agreed to stop on at York if his visa failed to come through. But the 24-year-old's application has now proved successful and he will leave next week for Australia, where he will join his girlfriend. "I've got my visa through," said Ross, "so I'm looking forward to a fresh start. "I'll be sad to leave York, sad to leave the club especially, but life goes on." | This season has probably done my playing CV the world of good |
As he prepares to start his new life down under, Ross hopes to continue his playing career - and he has already been in touch with clubs out there. "I've got three to four clubs that I'm going to speak to when I first get there." he said. "Knights general manager Ian Wilson has given me some of the DVDs from this year's games, so they can have a look at them, then I'll speak to them and see which club is going to suit me best. "This season has probably done my playing CV the world of good with the Grand Final victory and the international games I've had this year. "I think I'm in a much better position to negotiate contracts than I would have been two years ago."
