Much-travelled Chris Thorman joined York City Knights this season |
Chris Thorman will draw on all his big match experience when York City Knights take on Oldham in Sunday's Championship One Grand Final at Warrington. The former England captain, who also played for Sheffield Eagles, London Broncos and Hull FC, led Huddersfield Giants in the 2006 Challenge Cup final. And he admits: "I'll use all my Super League professionalism and experience to hopefully rub off on the boys. "We're going to prepare as well as we can," Thorman told BBC Radio York. "We'll do plenty of video stuff on Oldham and we'll take it from there. "What I will stress to the boys that we don't want to play the game too early in our heads. | We'll keep them as relaxed as possible and keep their feet on the ground York City Knights' Chris Thorman |
"I've played in some big games before and it's quite easy to play the game over and over in your head before kick off so we'll also keep them as relaxed as possible and also keep their feet on the ground as well." It will be the second time in three weeks that York have faced Oldham, who ran out 41-32 winners in the qualifying semi-final at the Whitebank Stadium on 12 September. "I still can't understand how we lost that one," said Thorman. "I'm a firm believer in that you make your own luck and there were a couple of lucky tries from Oldham."
