Knights beat Blackpool to reach promotion grand final
York City Knights convincingly beat Blackpool 38-18 to reach the Championship One Grand Final, in which they will play Oldham at Warrington.
The Knights had the game sewn up by half-time when they led 20-6.
They ran in four first-half tries from Dan Wilson, Alex Benson, Lee Waterman and Danny Ratcliffe, who added a second after the break.
Player-coach Chris Thorman also touched down, while Waterman added five more kicks to take his goal tally to seven.
"It's not how you start the season," Thorman told BBC Radio York. "It's how you finish it.
"The cream rises to the top. Hopefully we'll be the last ones standing."
York always looked in control after running in two tries in the first 10 minutes and, although Blackpool then replied, two more home tries earned the Knights their half-time cushion.
"The first 20 minutes are always vital in any game," said head coach Dave Woods. "That sets up how you're going to play.
"We got the two tries, we let in a soft one that we weren't happy about, but the boys dug really deep and I'm pleased for them.
"It's tremendous, a great feeling. Not a lot of players get to play in Grand Finals and they've done it now."
