Dave Woods took over as head coach in June |
York City Knights hope to announce more new signings for next season in the coming weeks. The club has already signed prop Matt Barron from Gateshead and coach Dave Woods said there are more to follow. He told BBC Radio York: "We've signed a couple of others that we'll announce later on in the week but we've got the nucleus there. "So we're doing a lot of forward planning as well as looking at this season as well." He added: "We've got some players lined up if we get promoted that we need to chase hard because we need those experienced players to help with these fellows." | The difficulty is not knowing what division we're in so we've drawn up a hit-list |
Woods said Barron will bring a lot of good qualities to the club next year. "He's a professional kid and he's just been picked in the Welsh squad and he'll give us a lot of good go forward and a lot of professionalism around the place," he said. "If you look at the squad this year and I wasn't there at the start, I'm told there was only two players who played last year in Danny Ratcliffe and Steve Lewis that stayed on - two of the regular first-graders. "This year we've already got a lot of them signed up so we know that we've got the nucleus there. "But the difficulty is not knowing what division we're in so we've drawn up a hit-list if you like."
