York City Knights have taken prop Davey Burns on a four-week trial from amateur club York Acorn. Burns has trained with the Knights and he is expected to make his debut in the reserves game at Oldham next Saturday. Knights general manager Ian Wilson said: "We are pleased that Davey has joined the club. "He has been in great form for Acorn this season and we feel he is a player who can make make the step up to the semi-professional game." Wilson added: "I know he is looking forward to the opportunity and we wish him all the best." Meanwhile the Knights' move for former captain Lee Patterson has fallen through after he rejected an offer from the club.
