Gateshead Thunder suffered a record Northern Rail Cup defeat with Wednesday's 100-4 loss at home to Batley Bulldogs.

Chris Hood's weakened side conceded 17 tries to a full-strength Batley with full-back Jonny Campbell running in a hat-trick for the Bulldogs.

Meanwhile Batley scrum-half Gareth Moore kicked 16 conversions to go with his brace of tries.

Thunder half-back Michael Brown grabbed the hosts' sole consolation try.
