James began his career with Bradford

Championship Grand Final winners Barrow Raiders have signed former Harlequins prop Matt James on a two-year contract.

James, 22, quit the Super League side at the beginning of March, having moved from Bradford Bulls in September 2009, stating a wish to return to the north.

He has Wales international honours and also enjoyed a loan spell with Championship side Halifax last season.

Raiders have also signed Huddersfield winger Jermaine McGillvary on a season-long loan deal.
