James spent last season on loan at Halifax

Harlequins' Matt James has left the club by mutual consent after just three Super League appearances.

The Wales prop joined Quins from Bradford in September, when coach Brian McDermott said he hoped it would prove another "north to south success".

But a club statement read: "The 22-year-old wishes to return home to play in the north of England."

James, who had a loan spell at Halifax last year, was under contract at The Stoop until the end of next season.
