Halifax sign Aizue from Hull KR

Hull Kingston Rovers' Papua New Guinea prop Makali Aizue has signed for Championship club Halifax.

The 31-year-old, who was Rovers' longest-serving player, moves to the Shay on a two-year deal.

After nine years at Hull KR, the veteran forward was not offered a new deal by the club.

Halifax director of football Martin Hall, who coached Aizue at Craven Park in 2004 said: "Makali could have played Super League next season if he wanted."

He added: "Fortunately, we have managed to persuade him to come and continue his career with us."

Hull KR coach Justin Morgan admitted: "It was a very difficult decision, especially when it was someone who has been part of the fabric of the place for so long, but players and coaches need to move on at some stage."
