York City Knights coach James Ratcliffe has told his side they must improve if they are to be successful in the Championship One play-offs. Despite seeing his side score eight tries to beat Swinton 46-28 in their final league game, Ratcliffe said their play was disappointing. He told BBC Radio York: "[It was a]pretty poor performance against what I thought was a very dogged side. "But three points is three points. We know we're going to have to be better." Ratcliffe added: "However you win them, sometimes you've got to win them rough as well haven't you?" Jordan Ross, Danny Ratcliffe and Loz Wildbore all scored twice with John Oakes and Mark Applegarth also getting tries. Half-back Gareth Moore was named man of the match and Ratcliffe said it was well deserved. "Gareth probably had his best game since he's been here to be honest," he said. "He had 40 minutes at hooker as well has his-half back position, so he's gelling in really nicely. "Loz [Wildbore] went well again but as a team it was probably tougher than what it looked off the field. A real tough, hard game. "They've got through, they've all stuck together and come through the other side. "They all know they've not played well so that's a good point." The Knights travel to Keighley in the play-offs in a fortnight's time.
