York City Knights have made a further two signings in preparation for the 2010 season. Stand-off or loose forward Aidie Hampshire, 21, joins from Wakefield Wildcats along with 22-year-old forward Mark Falkingham from Featherstone. Both players will join the Knights for pre-season training. Coach James Ratcliffe said: "Both players come with good reputations and I know that they are keen to show what they can do in the first team." Both Hampshire and Falkingham played predominantly in the reserve grade at their previous clubs and are keen to break in to the first team. The Knights hope to announce further signings soon. | The players are under no illusions as to what they've to do to keep in the team now |
Meanwhile loose forward David March could be fit for Saturday's Championship One game against Swinton Lions. He missed the game at Oldham with a hamstring problem but Ratcliffe told BBC Radio York March should be available again. "He trained fully on Tuesday night. There was a little bit of tightness in there but no after effects I don't think on Wednesday when I rang him so we'll see again in training, but I imagine Dave will be taking part," he said. A win for the Knights will secure third place in the table and a trip to Keighley in the play-offs and Ratcliffe said he has some selection headaches. "The players are under no illusions as to what they've to do to keep in the team now. "There's people in every position waiting to push on and take that position so they're good headaches rather than bad headaches. "I'm pretty certain there's not many teams in the division that have got strength in depth like we've got at the moment. "We've got to make sure we use that to it's strengths and make sure we pick the right team for each individual game."
