Feather was injured in the 20-16 win over Hunlset |
Keighley Cougars have confirmed that club captain James Feather has suffered a depressed fracture of his cheekbone. He sustained the injury in the Championship One win over Hunslet Hawks on Sunday and will know by Wednesday whether he needs an operation. Cougars head coach Barry Eaton said: "It looks at the moment like he has to have an operation. "You can't take risks with this kind of injury and the most important thing is his long-term health." Feather was injured in a first-half clash of heads with team-mate Daley Williams as they both tackled a Hawks player. Eaton added: "If he needs an operation, he will be out of action for three months but if he doesn't then, if we were to do well and reach the Grand Final, he could be fit in time for the big day at Warrington [on Sunday, 4 October]. "It's disappointing to lose him five days before our last league game of the season at London Skolars but that's part and parcel of playing rugby league."
