Championship One outfit Hunslet Hawks have signed hooker Louis Stead from Summer Conference side Parkside Hawks.

The 18-year-old is a former Featherstone Lion junior and has agreed a two-and-a-half-year deal.

Stead said: "I would like to thank the Hawks for this opportunity to progress my career.

"I want to thank my former colleagues and this should be a inspiration to them that if they put the hard work in then the rewards will follow."

Hunslet director of rugby Darren Williams said: "Louis has earned his first professional contract through sheer hard work and dedication after a string of fine performances for the Parkside Hawks.

"He is the second player to sign a long-term contract from the Parkside Hawks and he certainly won't be the last.

"The Summer Conference experiment has been a great development tool and a huge success and much credit must go to all involved."
