Duffy has won the Northern Rail Cup twice in his career |
Widnes half-back John Duffy was delighted to lift the Northern Rail Cup following their 34-18 victory over Barrow at Bloomfield Road on Sunday. Duffy, 29, was also named man of the match as the Vikings won the trophy for the second time in three years. "Its been great - I never get many man of the matches so it's lovely for me," he told BBC Radio Merseyside. "We've talked about our game plan all week and me making that impact. So hopefully I did that." Duffy said the Vikings fans were excellent during the match and he believes his side are now over the poor form they had at the start of the season. "The fans were awesome," Duffy continued. "They were an extra man for us and they were at Halifax [in the semi-final] as well. "It's been a long process [to turn the side's fortunes around] but we've turned that corner now and hopefully we can kick on."
