Knights ready for league opener

Paul March
March's side includes a number of former Dewsbury players

York are set to name a strong side for their opening game in Championship One at Dewsbury on Sunday.

Coach Paul March told BBC Radio York he has a full squad to choose from for a game that he sees as massive.

"We need to pick these three points up and put pressure on everybody else. It will set our stall out and show everybody we are contenders," he said.

"Someone has to lose and the other team is going to be on catch-up. Hopefully it's not going to be us."

March continued: "It will set our stall out and show everybody we are contenders for this league.

We'll have a strong starting line-up and one that will do the job for us

"We've done our homework on Dewsbury and I'm sure they've done theirs on us but if we play like we can do I'm sure we'll come out on top."

Only winger Steve Lewis will be unavailable because of injury and March said he will add players to the squad, including himself.

"The 17 on Sunday will be the strongest I can field at this particular time.

"There's players who missed the Wigan St Patricks game such as Danny Ratcliffe, myself, Adam Sullivan and Tom Haberecht.

"We'll all come back into the team for Sunday, along with some players who also played against St Pats.

"They'll keep their shirts as well, so we'll have a strong starting line-up and one that will do the job for us."
