March wants to give Andrews a chance to prove himself again in rugby league |
York City Knights have taken their former player Dean Andrews on trial. The 28-year old forward will play in some Under 21s friendlies over the next few weeks with a view to earning a contract with the Knights. Coach Paul March told BBC Radio York: "I spoke to Dean a few weeks ago and invited him down. "Obviously he knows the club quite well and he's wanting to get back. This is the process he's going to have to go through so we can have a look at him." Andrews joined the Knights from Hull KR at the back end of the season in 2004 but only played a handful of games because of injury. He then spent time with Doncaster and Sheffield Eagles before moving to rugby union. March added: "He's been out of rugby league for at least eight months playing rugby union so these next few friendlies in the 21s will show us what he can do. "After that we'll have a look at him and hopefully offer him a contract if it goes all right."
