Aberavon Fighting Irish 64-14 Valley Cougars Aberavon Fighting Irish found no fight from their under-strength visitors and waltzed through to a comfortable victory on their home debut in this campaign. The Fighting Irish were so much in charge that they were 38-10 up at half-time.
But the visitors were on the board first through prop Steve Bray who went over for the first of his two tries that put his team in front for the only time in the match.
It was an early score but Aberavon full-back Liam Gadd cracked open the Cougars' defence after seven minutes and, when second-row Darren Ryan stormed over, the floodgates opened up.
Wing Richard Lewis rifled over in the corner, centre Scott O'Kelly got another and Ryan got his second before a tremendous score down the wing from David Dyers and another from hooker Paul Morgan put the Fighting Irish out of sight.
Morgan and Gadd added more tries after the break with prop Dan ap Dafydd, Burke and prop David Hawkins also going over for touchdowns.
Welsh international wing Dean Scully landed six conversions, with Ryan and Morgan also kicking one each, while Cougars' captain Craig Thomas went over for a consolation touchdown.
Bridgend Blue Bulls 42-28 Torfaen Tigers
The Bridgend Blue Bulls were many people's underdogs going into this match, but the reigning champions claimed victory in a fast and excellent match.
The Tigers were looking sharp and had chances to score early on, but it was Bridgend who were celebrating by scoring two quick tries from Kevin Ellis and Paul Williams.
Phillip Marsh got a try back for Torfaen and they were soon just two points down after Steven Mayley intercepted a loose pass and raced 40 yards for Torfaen's second.
But a great last two minutes from the Bulls saw Gareth James go on a charging run to set up a score for Geraint Lewis, before scoring himself after another excellent sprint up field.
Full-back Jon Williams converted both to give his side a 24-10 half time lead.
Carle Ellis (Bulls) and Damien Hudd (Tigers) were both sin-binned early on in the second half for a fight that broke out after John Devereux was punched in the face.
But the veteran had the last laugh as he barged his way over the try-line three minutes later for the Bulls fifth try.
Tigers' Steven Mayley then got his second to lower the deficit before Kevin Ellis claimed his second try of the game and his fifth in three matches.
Gareth James also crossed for a brace before late tries for Gareth Marks and Matthew Williams gave Torfaen a more respectable scoreline.
Newport Titans 52-10 Cardiff Demons
Newport announced their arrival as a serious force in the Welsh Conference with a 10-try rout of local rivals Cardiff Demons.
The Titans took 25 minutes to get on the scoreboard, but once they got going the Demons had no answer to their direct style of rugby league.
Cardiff began well with Rhodri Thomas scoring on a powerful 20-yard run down the left wing.
The Demons continued to dominate the early exchanges but suffered a major setback when stand-off Gareth Jones was taken off after a clash of heads.
On 25 minutes Newport mounted their first serious assault on the Demons line resulting in Kirk Johnson's breakaway try under the posts.
Four minutes later Ben Morris added Newport's second and the Titans held their 12-6 lead up to the break.
Newport stamped their authority on the second half virtually from the kick off, when John Griffiths raced on to a kick from 20 yards out.
Neil McKinn ran through the middle to put Newport 22-6 up and there was no way back for the Demons.
The Titans added further tries from Kirk Johnson, Neil McKinn and Ross Palmer before Sean Gilbertson scored a consolation try for Cardiff.
In the last five minutes the Titans touched down twice more through Palmer and Craig Drew, and as the Demons besieged their line in the dying seconds, Owen Jones intercepted and ran back the length of the field to give Newport a 52-10 win.
