Inspirational Orr is August ace
Danny Orr is Sport Online's Rugby League Personality of the Month for August
Danny Orr is the youngest captain in Super League
Castleford captain Danny Orr is BBC Sport Online's Rugby League Personality of the Month for August.

The inspirational half-back pipped St Helens' Paul Sculthorpe and Warrington's Darren Burns to the award after helping steer the Tigers to four wins from four games, including a shock victory over Bradford Bulls.

Thanks to their recent run of successes, Castleford are now favourites to win the race for the sixth and final play-off place with just three rounds of the regular season to go.

"Danny has been the inspiration behind Castleford's rise into the top six," said BBC rugby league commentator Ray French.

"Having missed out on Great Britain's one-off Test against Australia, he is making a determined bid to face New Zealand over three Tests at the end of the year.

"If he keeps on going the way he is, it would be a major shock if he is overlooked again."

At 24, Orr may be the youngest skipper in Super League but the burden of captaincy has far from hindered his progress.

In fact, he has flourished under the added responsibility and fully justified coach Graham Steadman's decision to hand him the captain's armband at the start of the season.

"Anyone who saw the second half of the second Origin game between Yorkshire and Lancashire will know that Danny is capable of turning a match on its head," said BBC Sport Online's rugby league editor Phil Gordos.

"Should the Tigers go on to clinch a place in the play-offs, the likes of St Helens, Bradford and Wigan will be on red alert whenever he has the ball in his hands."

Previous winners of the Personality of the Month award include Ian Millward, Neil Kelly, Jason Hetherington, Adrian Lam and Huddersfield coach Tony Smith.
