Local favourite Bode Miller took the win in the World Cup giant slalom in Beaver Creek, ahead of compatriot Daron Rahlves and Finland's Kalle Palander. Miller, the overall World Cup champion, powered down in poor visibility to clock 2min 34.56sec for the two runs, beating Rahlves by 0.49 secs.
Miller said: "It was really difficult - the whole course was really rough."
Austrian great Hermann Maier, reigning world champion in the discipline, was eighth in 2:36.70.
