Rebecca Adlington won comfortably in the 800m freestyle at the British Gas Scottish Swimming Championships in Tollcross, Glasgow. The 21-year-old double Olympic champion, who won the 200m freestyle on the opening night, led from start to finish, touching in a time of 8:35.76. Megan Gilchrist overhauled Jessica Thielmann at the halfway stage to finish in second place in 8:41.61. Thielmann was more than 10 seconds adrift in 8:51.92. Robbie Renwick claimed the 100m freestyle title (50.67), Commonwealth record holder Thomas Haffield won the 400m individual medley (4:20.54) and Louise Pate took the 100m butterfly (1:00.53). The meeting, which includes a number of guest swimmers, also doubles as Commonwealth qualifying for the Scots.
