Jersey's Ian Black has taken eight medals at the Island Games A final bronze in the Men's 100m Individual Medley gave Jersey's Ian Black eight 2009 Island Games medals. This impressive haul included four golds and two games records. The swimmer told BBC Jersey: "My mum says she never gets to see me, but as my dad says, it is all worth it - the training and effort." His success in the pool in Aland must surely vindicate Black's decision to fly from training in Australia to compete for Jersey. Black's 2009 Games has built on the success that started at his first Games in Rhodes two years ago where he also took home eight medals. He also managed to improve on his 2007 performance by taking one more gold than he did in the pool Rhodes. Black hopes to compete in the Commonwealth Games next year in Delhi and says the intense training and effort is 'all worth it'.
Black's 2009 Island Games medals: 100m Breaststroke (Gold), 200m Individual Medley (Gold), 400m Individual Medley (Gold), 50m Breaststroke (Gold), 200m Breaststroke (Silver), 4 x 50m Medley Relay (Silver), 4 x 50m Freestyle Relay (Silver), 100m Individual Medley (Bronze).
