Swimmer Black claims fourth gold

Ian Black has won seven golds so far in the 2009 Island Games

Jersey's Ian Black has continued his pool success at the Island Games after winning the 400m individual medley.

Black also took bronze in the men's 100m individual medley, finishing in a time of 58.24.

Black's medal total at the 2009 Island Games is now up to seven, four of which are gold.

Elsewhere in the pool Jersey's Tom Gallichan took bronze in the 200m backstroke, he was beaten to silver by Guernsey's Jonathon Le Noury.

Iona Richardson and Ebony Jacklin added to the Jersey tally by taking silver and bronze in the Women's 50m freestyle.

The gold went to Shaila Millum Gardarnar of the Faroe Islands, who beat Richardson by 0.28 seconds.

Jacklin took the bronze with a time of 27.24 seconds, beating Gudrun Holm Jacobsen of the Faroe Islands into fourth by just 0.03 of a second.

Also in the pool, Katie Speller added to her personal medal tally by taking silver in the women's 400m freestyle with a time of 4:25.46, just 1.44 seconds ahead of Guernsey's Robyn Le Friec.

Charlotte Manning took silver in the women's 100m breastroke, she was beaten to the gold by Faroe Island's Malan Vitalis Barendsen.

Jersey's women's relay team took gold finishing just under five seconds faster than the silver-placed Isle of Man and set a new Games record in the process.

And Kerrie Smith took silver in the women's 200m backstroke behind Olivia Rawlinson of the Isle of Man.
