 Job is the 12th Tiger to qualify for nationals |
Youngsters from the AIB Tigers club made the national qualifying times for five different events this weekend at meets across the UK . In Sheffield 13-year-olds Emily Bashforth and Henry Job claimed two qualifying times each. Bashforth qualified in the 1500m and 400m freestyle, breaking Jersey's senior and junior records in the distance event. While Job claimed two national times in the 100m and 200m events. Tigers coach Nathan Jegou was impressed with both swimmers efforts. "Emily has be superb all weekend and so has Henry, they've trained really and come up with the goods when they needed to." At the same time 12-year-old Ella Dias qualified for the national championships in the 400m freestyle at the South East regional championships in Crawley. It is Dias' second qualifying time following her performance in the 400m individual medley last weekend at the Beau Sejour Open in Guernsey. Jegou added: "A couple weeks back we had no juniors at nationals and now we have three. "As a club we're going from strength to strength and the future looks bright with these young kids getting their National times." The ASA National Championships run from the 22 July until 2 of August at the Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield.
