Simpson wins exhibition at home

Guernsey squash player Chris Simpson won his world class exhibition match at Beau Sejour on Wednesday.

A good crowd watched the British Under-23 Champion and world number 41 beat world number 66 Mathieu Castagnet from France 2-1 in the friendly match.

Simpson was in the midst of preparing for the new season and said playing back on his "home courts was strange".

"It's weird because I grew up on these courts and although I love them it's a bit strange," said Simpson.

Simpson said the biggest change is he now plays on a 17 inch tin which means the lowest line on the court is two inches lower than the courts in Guernsey.

"It gets to me a little bit hitting a shot and it comes off the racquet and hits the tin and I think that should be a winner and instead I'm losing the point," he said.
