Bailey has struggled with a knee injury in recent months |
Lincolnshire's Tania Bailey has won the final of the NSC Series No5 Squash Championships in Malaysia. The 29-year-old celebrated her first WISPA World Tour title for almost three years after beating top seed Madeline Perry, from Ireland, 11-5 11-8 11-4. Bailey, whose win came following a four month lay-off after knee surgery, said: "It feels so nice to win. It has been such a long time since I did. "I feel proud of myself for all the hard and painful work I put in." It was Bailey's third successive upset in three days following victories over New Zealander Shelley Kitchen in the quarter-finals and former world champion Vanessa Atkinson in the semi-final. Bailey, who was seeded fifth for the tournament, finished outside the world's top 20 at the end of last year, but can now look forward to a significant rankings boost in next month's list.
