Bailey will compete at the Burning River Classic in Ohio in February |
Lincolnshire squash player Tania Bailey is out of the Greenwich Open in New York after losing 3-2 to world number eight Laura Lengthorn. The 28-year-old was not seeded for the tournament, slipping down the rankings after her recent knee injury. In the first round she beat fifth seed Jaclyn Hawkes in straight games but her lack of match fitness told in the end. "I played well in patches, but my fitness is still a long way off what it was," said Bailey. "In the fifth I had nothing left in my legs and lost it pretty easily. The match was quite long though so it is pleasing to see that my knee can handle a couple of hard matches." Bailey will now stay in North America and compete in the Burning River Classic in Ohio in a fortnight's time.
