Slovenia's Tina Maze delighted the home fans with victory in a World Cup giant slalom in Maribor on Saturday. The 21-year-old won her third giant slalom of the season, beating Italy's Karen Putzer by 0.22 seconds with a time of two minutes 16.36 seconds.
Veteran German Martina Ertl claimed third place, her first giant slalom podium finish for 15 months.
Finland's Tanja Poutiainen, who was seventh, retained her lead in the overall and giant slalom standings.
