Austria's Michaela Dorfmeister denied compatriot Renate Goetschl a clean sweep at Cortina by winning Sunday's World Cup downhill event. Goetschl, having added Saturday's downhill to two super-G wins earlier in the week, was seeking her fourth successive win at the Italian resort.
But the 29-year-old finished just 0.59 seconds behind Dorfmeister's winning time of one minute 36.62 seconds.
Germany's Hilde Gerg was third, just 0.03 ahead of Croatian Janica Kostelic.
Goetschl's consolation was that the 380 points she gained during the week moved her into the overall lead in the World Cup standings with 798 points, nine more than Kostelic.
"I've been coming here for 13 years and have never managed to win and so it is fantastic to finally do it," said Dorfmeister.
"It is a classic race and it means a lot to win here."
Goetschl remained upbeat despite missing out on a clean sweep of victories.
"I'm going home with a good feeling," she said.
"Of course it would have been nice to claim a fourth win but I think I showed already what I can do here."
