Finnish skier Tanja Poutiainen reclaimed her lead at the top of the World Cup standings after winning a women's slalom in Zagreb on Thursday. But home fans were left disappointed when Croat Janica Kostelic failed to finish the first leg of the race.
Kostelic learned to ski on Mount Sljeme which was hosting Croatia's first World Cup race, but she straddled a gate.
Poutiainen won in one minute 50.71 seconds ahead of American Kristina Koznick and Austrian Marlies Schild.
Koznick clocked 1:50.78, while Schild, who led after the first leg, recorded 1:51.19 following a mistake early on her second run.
