Goetschl made up for a disappointing World Championships |
Renate Goetschl won the women's World Cup super-G in Innsbruck, edging out Olympic downhill champion Carole Montillet. The Austrian made up for a lacklustre World Championships in St Moritz earlier this month where she failed to win a medal in either of the two speed events.
"I've definitely put all that behind me," said Goetschl after recording her third win of the season.
"I did my best at the worlds and have got enough experience to handle disappointment."
Her time of one minute 26.18 seconds knocked team-mate Alexandra Meissnitzer off the top of the leaderboard in the World Cup race.
Goetschl's third win on the Tyrolean mountain and 26th World Cup win overall keeps her hopes alive of winning the super-G World Cup title.
She trails leader Montillet by just 39 points with two races of the season remaining.
France's Montillet prevented an Austrian cleansweep after negotiating the Patscherkofel course in 1.26.21.
Meissnitzer completed the podium in third place with a time of 1.26.54.
Newly-crowned super-G world champion Michaela Dorfmeister of Austria had to settle for fourth spot.
But there was disappointment for double world champion Janica Kostelic.
The Croatian finished down in joint 14th place with Italy's Karen Putzer.
Downhill world champion Melanie Turgeon, meanwhile, could only manage 10th position.
