Campbell was beaten by Ondrej Synek in Lucerne |
Richard Chambers and his British team-mates took victory in the World Cup regatta in Lucerne but Alan Campbell had to settle for second place. Chambers and team-mates Paul Mattick, Rob Williams and Chris Bartley held off a late challenge from Denmark to win the lightweight men's fours final. Campbell was edged out by Ondrey Synek of the Czech Republic in the single sculls final. However Campbell did have the consolation of beating Mahe Drysdale. Synek clocked 6:52.82 with Campbell finishing in 6:55.21 and Drysdale (6:58.19) a further three seconds back. The British lightweight four clocked 6:01.07 which left them only .07secs ahead of the fast-finishing Danes.
